Now that Harvard has joined the ranks of about a dozen other institutions worldwide that require researchers to publish their articles in open access journals or repositories, is it time for UF to join the ranks of many research institutions that recommend it to their researchers?
Are we ready to look at open access textbooks? Can we urge faculty to retain some rights to their work to use it in their own online course readings?
What are the baby steps we can take to ensure academic materials that our own researchers produce are available to the institution that supports them?
